If I remember correctly, in Elite Dangerous I had to create a specific profile in the Logitech software (I've got s/w v8.0.134.0, driver v8.0.116.0 for Win 10 - there's later but only 32 bit that I can find) and set the Pinkie switch to Fallback before ED would use it.
